Practical information

When?

The competition will take place this year from Saturday, August 24 to Saturday, August 31. All rounds are open to the public! Admission to all rounds of the competition is free, with the exception of the final (for detailed information, see also last chapter below). 

Both competition categories alternate:

Saturday, August 24, all day: Category «Interpretation», first round

Sunday, August 25, all day: Category «Interpretation», first Round

Monday, August 26, all day: Category «Open Space», scenic presentations

Tuesday, August 27, all day: Category «Open Space», scenic presentations

Wednesday, August 28, all day: Category «Interpretation», Semi-final

Saturday, August 31, from 16 o’clock onwards: Final – both categories together!

How to get there?

Bern University of the Arts, Grosser Konzertsaal, Papiermühlestrasse 13D, 3014 Bern:
From Bern railway station, take bus 10 in the direction of Ostermundigen Rüti until Schönburg stop. Cross the street and turn into Funkerstrasse. The HKB is located at the end of Funkerstrasse. Parking spaces are available on the site. Further parking spaces are located in front of Papiermühlestrasse 17.

Bern University of the Arts, Auditorium, Ostermundigenstrasse 103, 3006 Bern:
From Bern railway station, take bus 10 in the direction of Ostermundigen Rüti to the Schosshaldenfriedhof stop. Then turn into Libellenweg. Follow the road, the path to the HKB building is signposted. Parking spaces: Parking spaces with costs are located at the corner Ostermundigenstrasse/Libellenweg. There is a disabled parking lot on the left next to the main entrance of the HKB building. Attention: There are no visitor parking spaces available on the site.

Dampfzentrale Bern, Marzilistrasse 47, 3005 Bern:
Dampfzentrale Bern is about a quarter of an hour’s walk from the train station. Leave the station heading towards the department store Loeb and walk through Christoffelgasse to the Kleine Schanze park. Now take the Marzili funicular or walk down to the river Aare. Follow Marzilistrasse past the outdoor swimming pools and turn left to Dampfzentrale Bern at the roundabout after approx. 400m.

By car (parking spaces available)
From the Bern-Ostring motorway: 
Drive straight ahead in the direction of the city centre. At Thunplatz, bear right (signs for museums) along Jungfraustrasse and Marienstrasse, head right (signs for Marzili) down Schwellenmattstrasse. Cross the river Aare and turn left at the roundabout and drive along Marzilistrasse to the Sulgeneck-Marzilistrasse roundabout. Turn left there.
From the Bern-Forsthaus motorway: 
Drive straight ahead in the direction of the city centre. At the end of Murtenstrasse, shortly after the Inselspital university hospital, turn right onto Zieglerstrasse, cross Effingerstrasse, and soon after turn onto Schwarztorstrasse. Continue straight ahead, drive down Sulgeneckstrasse. At the roundabout, go straight ahead to Dampfzentrale Bern.

How do I get tickets for the final?

Admission to all rounds of the competition is free, with the exception of the final. Prior registration is not required. Entrances are possible between the individual entries. Please be in front of the door on time. No late entry will be granted.

Tickets for the finals are available for CHF 10/20/30 exclusively at the box office of the Dampfzentrale. Pupils, students and trainees are admitted free of charge upon presentation of an appropriate identity card.
