Nicati Timeline

In Brief

The Concours Nicati is the largest competition for interpreters of contemporary music in Switzerland. It is intended for professional musicians and there is no age restriction.

All instruments – including the voice, but with the exception of the organ – are admitted and musicians can register either as soloists, duos and ensemble (maximum 6 persons).

The jury awards a total sum of CHF 50'000.- and consists of five well-known personalities from the field of contemporary music.

The Concours Nicati takes place on a biannual basis at the Bern University of the Arts. The entire Concours is open to the public and offers a unique insight into the contemporary music scene in Switzerland. Listeners have the opportunity to hear compositions for a variety of instruments. The short playing time of the individual candidates makes for a rich and versatile listening experience.
