In Brief
The Concours Nicati is the largest competition for interpreters of contemporary music in Switzerland. It is intended for professional musicians and there is no age restriction.
All instruments – including the voice, but with the exception of the organ – are admitted and musicians can register either as soloists, duos and ensemble (maximum 6 persons).
The jury awards a total sum of CHF 50'000.- and consists of five well-known personalities from the field of contemporary music.
The Concours Nicati takes place on a biannual basis at the Bern University of the Arts. The entire Concours is open to the public and offers a unique insight into the contemporary music scene in Switzerland. Listeners have the opportunity to hear compositions for a variety of instruments. The short playing time of the individual candidates makes for a rich and versatile listening experience.
